On October 20, 2016, Vancouver Talmud Torah lost a much beloved faculty member. Sari Zack Weintraub joined VTT in 1990 and taught Humanities and Tikkun Olam to our most senior students. Ms. Weintraub was a visionary educator with high standards, high expectations and a level of rigour not often seen in an elementary school setting. In 2008, Mrs. Weintraub revolutionized Talmud Torah’s tikkun olam curriculum by conceiving the Mitzvah of Valuing Philanthropy program, a teen philanthropy initiative deeply rooted in Jewish values.

To honour Ms. Weintraub, at the request of her family, donations may be made to the MVP program that she developed, that embodies her spirit, and will continue to inspire developing students to make the world a better place throughout their lifetimes.

Vancouver Talmud Torah mourns the passing of this exceptional educator, mentor, colleague, friend, mother and grandmother. May her memory be for a blessing and may our community be inspired by her visionary leadership and commitment to teaching Jewish values.
